Cruising Sailors Yarns

First to the Logo – to keep it simple, it depicts a catamaran, but we are collecting yarns, to be shared with others, from sailors of all types of boats even motorboats.

Hello I am John and my wife Bärbel and I have been sailing In the European Waters from the Mediterranean to the Baltic since the late 60’s. A short time ago, we sailed into an interesting Inlet and said this looks familiar. Yes wasn’t that? Didn’t we?, then the Memories came flooding back

So how can we keep our Memories fresh or at least recall them in detail and share them with others? If it is interesting rough weather Hollywood film stuff we are really too busy to film or to think about how to protect our camera from salty spray. If it is sunshine and light weather sails then we are mostly too lazy to document our indolence.

We had the idea of recording what was so interesting about our special destinations, a song, a recipe and maybe even a joke. However if you are going to upload your Yarn in whatever form you do not need to keep to our format.

A Yarn? Well it could be anything that you have done, seen, or even heard of, that would make an interesting story. Mermaids seem to have disappeared and Sea Monsters are more seldom, but with millions of Sailors throughout the world, there must be millions of interesting yarns to be told.

Looking forward to hearing from you, whatever the topic “Learning from mistakes” is a good one”, “owning or chartering” Building your own boat “ Multihull versus Monohull” share your experiences, and we will keep adding new topics
